40th Day:
Learning a card game called "Tong-its"...
Tong-its was a gamble game played by some Filipinos during lamay (mourning) or even in ordinary days. They said its a game for mind. How? I found out when I learned playing it with no gambling involve. :=)
I am not really fun of playing cards but I learned the game called "Tong-its". While we were in the vigil, boredom stroked us and my sister was asking a nephew of my sister-in-law to teach us how to play Tong-its. Then it started there.
At first it was hard and I barely understand the game but later on as we continue to play I was hooked in the game. After hours of playing, I won in two consecutive rows. I was smiling to the highest level because I really find it hard even before when my friends would teach me. I realized that its a matter of strategy and it doesn't matter whether your cards are not that good. Its a strategic games where you can really sharpen your ability to think and be cautious on what you see and you pick up.
And the game ended because we needed to went home because mom can't stay long hours.
Even when we went home in the resort, where we stayed, I can't get over with the feeling. Then I came up with the realization in connection with life. Its like we play cards in our everyday life, we were surrounded by different players who are willing to teach us the game or willing to let us change the game. All throughout our life we are cautious enough to save our life to the fullest and some players taught us how to stand in this game.
But then, in the middle of the game we change cards and we changed the game. We no longer taught by players to stand in this game but we became the player who can stand this game.
We became players who carry Aces up to the last minute of the game nor our teachers can't make us surrender our Aces to them. We carry it to prove that with courage we can do the game with courage before the game becomes meaningless.
